Re: hiya
You've set yourself a task and a half. Of all the four main saxes I would say the sop is the hardest to learn on. The embouchure is much tighter than on say, a tenor sax, and it is a tad awkward to play it in tune at first.

That all said, if you can master the sop, all the other saxes should just roll into place.

Cheers and good luck.

Hi Nicky from wonderful Welwyn in Herts. Good luck with that soprano, is it a straight one or a curved one?

Welcome Nicky.
Of course you're crazy, part of the criteria for playing a saxophone. Apparently George W didn't play sax.
Nuff said?

Hi Nicky!

I started on straight soprano and seemed to get on OK - I just prefer the Alto overall, which is what I switched to after 8 months or so. If you have not played a sax before you will not have anything to compare it to and will just get on with it.

Greetings from Swansea, South Wales - about as sunny as Southampton, but just more successful at footie!

Enjoy the Breakfast Room.
Kind regards
Tom

Welcome Nicky, learning any instrument is hard work, so good luck. I'm hoping Mrs Hunter will be buying me a Sop for my b day.

Hi Nicky. Welcome.
I was trying to think of a pun on Catch 22, but I can't. Suffice to confirm sax players are crazy. Past my bedtime.
