hiya
hiya my names nicky an im from liverpool hired a soprano a 2 weeks ago almost even though i was advised that they are the hardest to learn on i jus wanted to be different! im managing to get a few notes out of it tho do u thinkk am crazy?!  |

You've set yourself a task and a half. Of all the four main saxes I would say the sop is the hardest to learn on. The embouchure is much tighter than on say, a tenor sax, and it is a tad awkward to play it in tune at first. Didn't have much trouble playing my soprano in tune, dunno what all the fuss is about, it's just a musical instrument

Hi Nicky! I started on straight soprano and seemed to get on OK - I just prefer the Alto overall, which is what I switched to after 8 months or so. If you have not played a sax before you will not have anything to compare it to and will just get on with it. Greetings from Swansea, South Wales - about as sunny as Southampton, but just more successful at footie!
